How this calculator works

Conversion rate divides completed actions by the total opportunities to convert, then multiplies the result by 100. Use visitors for a website, leads for a sales funnel, or another consistent denominator. This tool assumes no more than one conversion per opportunity.

Formula

Conversion Rate = Conversions / Total Opportunities * 100

Example calculation

Visitors: 5,000. Conversions: 150. Conversion rate: 150 / 5,000 * 100 = 3%.

Important considerations

Use separate calculations for ecommerce orders, landing page leads, signup conversions, sessions, users, or trials. Mixing denominators makes rates hard to compare.

FAQs

How do you calculate conversion rate?

Divide conversions by total visitors or leads, then multiply by 100 to turn the result into a percentage.

Can conversions exceed visitors?

No. This single-conversion model rejects conversions greater than visitors or leads.

What does target gap mean?

It is the difference between your current conversion rate and your target conversion rate.

Can I use this for ecommerce or lead conversion?

Yes. Use orders and sessions for ecommerce, or qualified customers and leads for a sales funnel, and keep the denominator consistent.

Is conversion rate the same as click-through rate?

No. Click-through rate measures clicks from impressions, while conversion rate measures completed actions from the opportunities you choose.
